Windows Media Server will not show files on external hdd, why?

i have my ps3 set up to use windows media server to stream videos. my files are on a external hard drive, and now they will not show up on my ps3 but they show up in windows media player. i have used this before and never had problems, they used to show up on my ps3 but today they wont show up, any help?
