Running a server on a windows pc?

lets say im using my pc for daily work like powerpoint and word and stuff, and i want to add a server to it that runs 24/7 and it can't be crashed. what should i do to upgrade my pc to prevent lag or crash? like installing the server on an additional harddisk help? add a fan? or improve the processer? currently it is i3
